Pillar frontman Rob Beckley recently addressed the mystery around the status of the rock band after news of a solo album was released. Beckley writes...
There have been a lot of questions about what is going on with Pillar. So I thought I would address them and fill everyone in.1. Did Pillar break up?
Technically we didn't break up. We went through a lot of things in the band with memeber changes and such. We did our best to keep things going, but the road does start to wear on you. For me I dealt with some things that I felt I needed to be home more. My wife was held up at gun point and car jacked and the thought of something happening to my family while I was on the road was unbearable. I was also offered the opportunity to lead worship at my church. Therefore, the timing and the emotion that was involved led me to start doing just that. I am currently a worship pastor at my church and have enjoyed it very much.
2. Rob lost his voice and they had to quit.
As I stated before I am currently singing every week at church. Soooooooooooo........no I didn't lose my voice. Actually my voice has gotten stronger and I have become a better singer by taking this path.3. Why are the other members playing in other bands?
The short answer is they are musicians and if you aren't doing something with your band you look for outlets to play. I have nothing against any of them and they have my support.4. When are you going to do another Pillar record?
I don't know the answer to that. Everyone just needed some time away to clear our heads and be freed from the industry for awhile. We have all talked about doing another record and will let you know when that day comes.5. Why is Rob doing a solo record and not a Pillar record?
The biggest reason is because I alone am not Pillar. If its just me singing and not the guys playing with me then its just a solo record. I am essentially doing this to help a friend launch something that I believe in.Idefimusic is a new online label that anyone can be a part of. I have helped in the shaping of it and believe that it is the next wave of the music industry. Therefore, me doing a record is a way of supporting something that I believe in.
Thank you to all of our fans that have supported us through so much. Our families suffered and sacrificed a lot for us to be able to do what we do. They are my first ministry and a huge priority to me. So thank you for your support on my efforts in getting some music out there to you. I truly love each of you and appreciate all that you have done and will do for us!
God Bless
Rob
